Elsanta has been  the standard variety in Belgium and the Netherlands for decades. Elsanta has a red conical shape with a small sepal. It is a delicious strawberry with a good hardness and a long shelf life. Hoogstraten Strawberries are available starting from mid-March, coming from heated greenhouses, at the start of May, the strawberries grown under plastic tunnels are sold and starting from June, the strawberries grown in open ground are available. Strawberries can be bought starting from March until January.
