When crafting cocktails, where does one begin? It always helps to start with a central ingredient theme, especially one that will pique your taster’s palate. With bergamot season in full swing, the distinctively aromatic citrus makes a perfect choice. Discover how this Bergamot cocktail with apricot and bourbon pairing accentuates the fruit’s unmistakably lemon-orange notes, while teasing out the underlying floral notes of this wonderfully complex citrus.
Pairing bergamot with apricot and whiskey
The floral, violet scent of bergamots provide an excellent aromatic match for bourbon whiskey and apricots, which form the flavor base of this cocktail. The apricot preserves also lend balance with their tart, syrupy sweetness. Top things off by finishing your cocktail with Hoegaerden’s Belgian-style white ale, which contains the same citrus-coriander-like notes found in bergamots.
This sweet, tart Bergamot cocktail with apricot and bourbon provides a cool, refreshing contrast to the creamy taste and texture of the Brugge Abt Abbey cheese, in which we find a rose-like aroma similar to the floral notes of bergamots and apricots.
