Metaxa – Ouzo – honey – Granny Smith – ginger

This cocktail is an ode to the natural variety of Greece. By relying on the rich aromas of Metaxa, I’ve created this cocktail with Ouzo, mediterranean herbs and soda. It was presented at the Foodpairing┬« Masterclass on Mediterranean flavours hosted by

aromatic wheel food pairing, Kefalonia Julep cocktail

Ingredients (for one cocktail)

  • 45ml Metaxa 5
  • 10ml Ouzo
  • ┬╝ Granny Smith
  • 5ml Greek thyme honey
  • 3ml fresh ginger juice
  • thyme
  • rosemary
  • soda
  • crushed ice


Crush the Granny Smith into the shaker with a pestle and warm it up slightly, together with a pinch of rosemary and thyme. Add all remaining ingredients except for the soda. Fill your glass with crushed ice and finish your creation by topping the cocktail with some soda.


A sprig of thyme and rosemary, browned ginger, slices of green apple and a few drops angostura bitters (in a pipet).
